Dalal Bridge(Pira delal) The Legend of love and death.

is one of the most important historical landmarks of zakho city.bridge, which extends at an altitude of 114 meters and width of 4.70 and rises from the surface of the river by 15.5, and is built with stones, decorated and planned, consisting of six axes in the form of a half circle, one large in the center and five on the two sides, The walls and structures on it, so its history has not yet known. The name Dalal Bridge is very old for the people of Zakho. Some of its zakho people live there. They named the Great Bridge and the Abbasia Bridge, a new name named after the last century by official order of the founder of the judiciary at the time. 15/5/1909 The bridge was named after Khabour. Dalal has two legends the first one say that The first legend says that Abbasi prince fell in love with a girl in the village opposite to his city so he decides to build the bridge so he would be able to cross it and see his lover. The second legend says that a builder came to the city of Zakho after he built a bridge for one of the Bhutani princes in his governors. So the prince chopped off the builders right hand so he won't build another one, but he came to the city of Zakho. The prince of the city asked him to build a bridge that connects between two sides of kabour and he challenged the prince who chopped off his right hand and he starts to build one. during the building processes whenever he reaches to the central arch the arch was collapsing again and again, so he consulted one of the astrologers about the problem. so the astrologist told him: "you must bury the first person who will step up on the bridge bury him/her inside the middle arch and the building processes will be completed" On the second day, his son's wife Dalal came to bring him food.when he saw her he was shocked because she was the first person to step up on the bridge. The builder told her sons wife the whole story, she voluntarily agreed to what her father in law will do. so he buried her in the central arch, as legend says, and he finished the construction of the bridge. but the historical source says that  Pira Dalal is believed to have been first built during the Roman era, while the present structure appears to be from the Abbasid era. Kurdish people all over Kurdistan visit the great Pira Delal as a monument of peace. Note at the end of this article for everyone who asks if Kurdistan is safe to visit?  sure it is safe and heavenly beautiful, people are so generous, have a high sense of hospitality.... etc. so you are so welcome to visit KRG......please find more photo and video by clicking the back links in the article.
